Transitional Period

Pardon me, but I’m going through a bit of a phase. A mania, if you will — transition mania. Which is a hard itch to scratch when you live in a part of the country known for its remarkable flatness.

So instead, especially when there’s six inches of snow in the bottom of the closest concrete pool, a man must turn to the world of fantasy. Thankfully, that’s what we have skate porn for. Try to contain yourselves, fellas.

This transfer is the stuff of nightmares. It’s absolutely not shish kabob weather. Bailing is simply not an option, because there’s no way in hell I’m digging the grill out right now.

People might not be switching into 18 different grind variations on ledges five years from now, but they’ll sure as shit still be doing gnarly shit like this. Timeless skateboarding — simple, stylish, and just scary enough.

Speaking of timeless skateboarding, what better way to close out the post than with a bunch of Lance Mountain flicks? Particularly that Skateboarder cover… easily one of the coolest magazine covers in recent memory. And he’s hanging on to the fucking ladder? Fuck me, I’m having heart palpitations over here.

Dude’s fucking 45 years old and his part in Extremely Sorry was probably better than anybody else’s on the team. There might not be a transfer involved in this shot, so it doesn’t quite belong with the other photos… but nobody belongs in a pool more than Lance Mountain anyway.

Never stop skating.
