A good way to ensure your crew will forever live under the shadow of another crew would be to give yourself practically the exact same name. Which is why the skate collective known as Flipmode was wise to change their name to something less reminiscent of The Tiltmode Army, who are considerably more well known and consist primarily of pro skateboarders who are really good at what they do, and also charming and dashingly attractive.

Flipmode is now going by the name Sognar, which is cool because while it actually spells “so gnar,” if you read it phonetically it sounds like the name of a mythical dinosaur. Plus they have a cool bleeding eyeball in a pentagram thing for a logo, so that pretty much sold me right there. I don’t even care how good they are at skateboarding — bloody eyeballs, man, that’s my shit.
