Here’s a great little clip of Shawn Powers taking it to the streets with some nighttime New York City footage that feels absolutely classic. This is my favorite type of skating to watch — totally raw, improvisational, literal STREET skating.

To me, that’s what New York skateboarding is all about. And I think that devil-may-care, tearing ass between traffic and pedestrians, and just handling whatever weird obstacle comes along next really did a lot to inform not just the scene in NYC, but all of East Coast skating in general.

For real though, this dude lubes up a ledge with spit. It really doesn’t get rawer than that, right guys?
