Under the Bridge

Heartbreaking news… just weeks after Flushing Meadows park fell victim to a city construction project, another legendary skate spot is about to meet its demise. And this time they really went for the throat.

The Brooklyn Banks will be closed soon as the area is needed for the storage of trucks, port-o-potties and whatever miscellaneous crap the Parks Department feels like dumping there during the Brooklyn Bridge reconstruction project, which is starting later this year and isn’t due to be finished until 2014. No word on what the Banks will look like after all’s said and done, or if they’ll ever even be reopened, but at the very least the party’s over for the next 4 years.

Part of the Banks was already made unskateable a few years ago, and it’s just like they say, “if you give them an inch…” Well, looks like the city finally came back for the rest of the mile. Rest in pieces.
